ONLINE DIVORCE & MEDIATION – AVAILABLE STATEWIDE
Move Forward on Your Terms. From Anywhere in Alabama

Attorney-Managed · Virtual · Statewide
Online Divorce Done Right. With a Real Attorney, Not a Form.
Most online divorce services hand you a form and let document automation do the rest. Ours is different. You meet with Melissa personally via Zoom, she learns your situation, and makes sure everything is handled correctly the first time.
This is not a template service. You get real attorney guidance, real legal review, and real access to Melissa throughout your entire case — from anywhere in Alabama. Flat fee. No surprises.
I have been practicing family law since September 2014. I designed this online service personally because I know there are people across Alabama who need quality legal representation but can’t easily get to an office. You deserve the same level of service whether you’re in Huntsville or in a small town three hours away.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Online Divorce & Mediation FAQs
Is it safe to use an online divorce service in Alabama?
Not all online divorce services are equal — and in Alabama the difference matters enormously. Alabama law requires that anyone preparing legal documents for your divorce be a licensed Alabama attorney. Services that use non-attorneys or out-of-state attorneys to complete Alabama divorce paperwork are engaging in the unauthorized practice of law.
Beyond the legal issue, the practical risks are serious. Property division in Alabama is not modifiable after 30 days from the entry of your final divorce decree. That means mistakes, omissions, or oversights in your divorce documents — missed assets, poorly worded property division, retirement accounts handled incorrectly — can become permanent and extremely costly to you. There is no going back.
At Melissa Miller Law Firm every online divorce is personally managed by Melissa — a licensed Alabama attorney with over a decade of family law experience. You get real legal protection, real attorney oversight, and the peace of mind that everything is handled correctly the first time.
Do both spouses have to agree to use online uncontested divorce?
Yes — our online divorce service is designed for uncontested divorces where both parties are in agreement on the major issues including property division, debt, and if applicable child custody and support. If you and your spouse are not in agreement online mediation or a contested divorce may be more appropriate.
How long does online divorce take in Alabama?
An uncontested divorce in Alabama can be finalized in as little as 30 days after filing depending on the court’s schedule. The online process itself — from your initial consultation through document preparation and filing — typically moves quickly once both parties have provided the necessary information.
What if we can’t agree on everything — can mediation help?
Absolutely. If you and your spouse are close to agreement but need help working through specific issues our online mediation service may be exactly what you need. Melissa serves as a neutral mediator via Zoom — facilitating productive conversations and helping you reach a resolution that works for both parties without going to court.
What does online uncontested divorce not cover?
Our flat fee online uncontested divorce service does not include retirement division orders such as QDROs, contested matters, or filing fees. If your divorce involves retirement accounts we offer retirement division order preparation as a separate service. We will identify any additional needs during your Zoom consultation.
Why should I use an attorney instead of an online divorce service like LegalZoom?
Document services fill in forms based on what you tell them — they cannot identify legal issues, protect your rights, or catch mistakes before they become expensive problems. With Melissa Miller Law Firm you get a licensed Alabama attorney who personally reviews your situation, applies real legal judgment, and makes sure everything is done correctly the first time.
